I know that blogger.com’s commenting system is not that user friendly, but certainly not to this extend.

Sobs, blogger, what did I do wrong???

(Just so you know, mcbkn is short form for hokkien profanities, macibaikanneh, )

With great power comes great trouble

April 27, 2007 by Sleeping Princess

Screw that “with great power comes great responsibility”, it is too overrated anyway. I have heard of this statement so many times that I am afraid the meaning got lost to me in translation. So I assume that the more powerful you are, the more you need to stand on tiptoes, because everyone is watching you, and if you happen to walk a bit slower or out of pace, everyone will go berserk and tell you that you shouldn’t be doing it like that and you should instead do it properly, because, lets face it, everyone is looking at you, so, you are responsible to put up a good show, be the role model, and no screw ups.

(Spidey fans, don’t get upset, enjoy your movie this coming Labour Day ok?)

Actually, what prompted this entry was because Spiderman 2 was showing on TV (no doubt riding on the wave of audience that are eager to watch Spiderman 3) when I was having dinner, and almost everyone in Subaidah were fixing their eyes on the show (diners aside, servers, cashier and cooks included) watching Spidey dueling with the metal limbs man. During the mouth-chew-eye-on-TV half an hour, I’ve realized that:

There must always be suspense that are like, the danger of a few hundred of innocent train passengers life hanging on a few strands of spidey webs and a damsel in distress Mary Jane (did I get the spellings correct?), a concoction of story that guarantees the element of great sacrifices of those with inhumane power to save the lives of us ordinary folks, a hero rescuing a damsel in distress for a soppy, happy ending, and of course the moral of the story, the good always triumphs over the evil.

How overrated, overuse, and over-recycled is that?

So, knowing that, you should know better that, with great power, people will have high expectations on you, because you can do what they can’t and they almost expect you to do all those community service of ridding the bad apples; your girlfriend/wife/mother/gay partner will almost always get captured so that you will have to go rescue them; and then you will have to fight weird mecha/elemental/crazy/wacko creatures (and you must win, on top of that).

That, is superhero’s version of being responsible.

How troublesome.

Mummie mi want a car!

April 21, 2007 by Sleeping Princess

I’ve switched to listening to the radio while driving, and it will always be tuned to myfm. Knowing radio station advertisements, 9 out of 10 advertisements are more outrageous that it outshines the product they were advertizing for. Ever heard of the car ad that sounded something like this?

Mum: Hey, why are you so early today girl?
Dotter: Yeah, because Janice bought a new Atos, we don’t need to take the bus anymore! Mummie, it was a great car! I want one!
Mum: Oh Atoz! The car won a lot of international awards! It is fast, realiable, bla, bla, bla….So, Darling, I will buy for you!
Dotter: Thanks mum! I love you very much!

If only they knew that no sane mum will ever talk like that in real life. I think it will make more sense with either mum being replaced by dad, or dotter being replaced by son.

o.O
